Yes We Said It, 2016 Here You Come
As we come to a close of 2015 wedding season, we start a new chapter into 2016 Bridal Season.
With swishes of lace, silk and bling, confetti throwing, bells ringing and horns a honking in neighborhoods across the GTA.
What to expect this year as invitee’s, brides and people of honor.
For the most part, the format has not changed all together. But as a guest you may be delighted or dreading the long and costly day, of new shoes the envelope and people you have never met or people you have wished to see never again. Never the less, we must attend and will. As The hosting couple, our best advice is to stay true to your personality and style and only listen to each other, as you will find everyone has advice and options on what and how you should be throwing your wedding.
Here is what to anticipate this year.
The trend is a great new appreciation, towards attendees. The ceremony is getting shorter and phew! Many and more couples are opting for the same space event (ceremony and reception) all on site. Shorter Ceremony to Reception wait time. Weddings will be starting later in the day rather than drag on. Great for brides who can now relax pre wedding and a relief for guest who dread the three hour gap between ceremony and reception.
YES, expect a more red carpet feel. With photo opts and strolling tables as you arrive. You may even See an Aerialist or two. So wear those shoes and a new contemporary tie and get ready for one fabulous night of love, food and entertainment.
The receiving line is still a wonderful tradition before you drop your envelope. Ahh the envelope, The envelope is now suggested to be no less than $300 or more per couple. So Enjoy this great opportunity for a wonderful evening filled with dinner dancing and entertainment, hopefully without long speeches and 8 courses of food.
The trend is leading to better quality of food with lesser course of who cares, “pass the tums please So Bon Appetite and enjoy.
Speaking of Food, Late Night stations have taken it to a whole new level, with Funnel cake stations to gourmet food trucks. 12am is my favorite time of the day when attending a wedding
Cupcakes, one tier, four tier, suspending floral cakes, All the different designs, heights, styles flavors, CAKE! it’s a beautiful thing. However the new and trending fad has been the “Faux Cake. Yes Fake Cake! Top tier real the rest is faux. And who would ever know. No one enjoys the price tags of these lavish cakes or the two inch fondant covering our beloved Caramel dulce de leche. So Yes Opt for a grand rental Faux Cake where you can have your cake and eat it to. Slab Cakes with your favorite flavors are sent to the back and guest would not know the difference.
Another trend or should I say is now considered a necessity is hiring a Wedding Coordinator for the month. Weddings this year should have a more composed, relax feel, which means everyone will probably enjoy their night more, thanks to more knowledge, consideration and time that has been put into the planning.
Also expect more individualized décor, since more and more brides are not opting for the DIY weddings and choose not to give the responsibility to the eager friend or relative accepting the task of staying up the night before and setting up the day of the wedding placing and “designing”.
Couples are pinning and sharing there likes and dislikes together, and now have a better sense of their personal style, they seek knowledgable designers like ourselves to guide them throughout the design process. This leads to a magical personalized wedding and an ambiance that will awaken your senses.
Expect to see a shift from all that bling, to a more romantic feel of floral paterns, lace, pearls and rustic themes. Don’t Get Us Wrong, There will always be bling but it is now paired with softer delicate textures. So much thought is involved so enjoy what they couple has created for you.
The Stationary. Our Opinion. Is the face of the wedding. We feel it should reflect the style and theme of the wedding and its colors. It should exude luxury, whether it be vintage, elegance or rustic. The invite is a prelude to what the guest should expect so in my books do it right and leave it to the professionals. Average pricing for invites start at approx. $7.00 Plus and a minimum order of 60% should be ordered.
Last but not least the favors, thank you gifts should be unique and personalized this year, a favorite is a bottle of wine rather than a nick knack that needs to be dusted off or our favorite the Charitable donation attached to a sweet treat.
